01What changes in Canberra
Access Canberra’s consumer guide recommends checking what services a removalist offers and what insurance covers, and says the contract should identify moving, packing, insurance and storage costs, pickup and delivery dates and whether subcontractors will be used.
Current ACT loading-zone guidance says a vehicle designed for carrying goods can use a loading zone while loading or unloading without the permit required for some non-goods vehicles. Separate ACT rules restrict heavy and long vehicle parking in residential areas, while allowing limited exceptions for collecting or delivering goods.
These are reasons to verify the actual truck and street, not a general exemption. Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong and Woden Valley can share a campaign only where the operator genuinely covers the districts and any NSW cross-border destination. Townhouse and apartment complexes may add shared access, basement height, lift protection and manager booking rules.
The quote should identify travel, minimums, packing, storage, heavy items, delays and interstate consolidation and should distinguish requested dates from confirmed windows. Claims about insurance, accreditation, employees or owned fleet require current evidence, especially where a subcontractor completes part of the route.
